Summer Time and the Living is Fine

This is the time of year to be thinking about winter foods.  Storing our local bounty by drying, canning, fermenting, pickling and freezing.  I’ve made a first attempt at fermenting cucumbers.  It didn’t go so well.  I think it may have been that I didn’t have enough salt, and it may be that the vegetables I selected were too far beyond their peak.  Back to the drawing board!
